Casino in Toronto ‘unlikely’

There has been lots of speculation about a new casino in Toronto recently, but these reports are being dismissed by those in the know.

It has always been a topic of discussion amongst those playing Online BlackJack – many believe it would be an excellent addition to Toronto as a tourist attraction – but for now, rumours of a planned development appear wide of the mark.

Toronto Councillor Michael Thompson said: “I’m not aware there’s been any discussion with the city at this time.”

“What I understand is there is some discussion, people are kicking the tires. People have asked, ‘Have you heard it?’ No one has come to me. I have asked the mayor’s office and no one has come to them either at this time.”

Thompson then spoke to about the pros and cons of having a massive casino in Toronto. He admitted that there would be economic benefits, but there will be plenty of people – including some of those who enjoy BlackJack Online – opposed to the idea too.

He continued: “I don’t think it’s something where you just say yes, let’s do it. I wouldn’t want to hear about families losing their house or their life savings.”

Progressive Conservative MPP Jim Wilson then continued on the same topic, saying that speculation about such developments seem to occur every few years.

He said: “When we looked at it, when we were in government, the answer was always no. That we were flooded with not just the major casinos but the slots.”

“So I’m not sure there is a market there.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how this one develops, but for now Queen’s Park representatives believes that Toronto will not be getting a casino at Ontario Place just yet.
